Scope Members
Scope’s members are an essential part of the organisation, playing a key role in helping us achieve our purpose of creating meaningful opportunities for people with a disability to belong and thrive.
Scope’s members have allowed the organisation to have a powerful voice in the disability sector. With the support of members, Scope has actively driven change in the community and has been an influential advocate for the rights of people with a disability.
As at 30 June 2024, Scope has a total of 105 members, consisting of 85 Governing (voting) Members and 20 Associate Members.
Our membership engagement over the past year included Scope members having the option of attending and voting at our Annual General Meeting, communications from our Chair and Board, and receiving Horizon newsletters and updates.
The Scope Board continues to seek opportunities to engage purposefully with Scope’s members, evolve the role of the Scope membership, and keep members informed on key developments and governance matters.
Scope is grateful to all our members for their continued support in creating meaningful opportunities for people with a disability to belong and thrive.
Annual General Meeting
Scope’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 14 November 2023, with Governing Members able to attend and vote in person or via virtual technology.
In partnership with our registry and virtual meeting platform support, Vero Voting, members were able to ask questions prior to and during the meeting.
The AGM was attended by 55 people, 22 of whom were Scope Governing (voting) Members. A total of 27 proxy votes were submitted by Governing Members prior to the meeting, in line with statutory requirements. The meeting was duly convened and quorate.
During AGM addresses, Scope Board Chair, Professor Sanchia Aranda AM, and Scope Deputy Board Chair, Gary Brinkworth, addressed the strategic and financial accomplishments of the previous 12 months. Scope Chief Executive Officer, Kate MacRae, spoke to the establishment of a national brand and operating model with a common Purpose, Vision and Values, and the transformation agenda ahead.
Scope Members unanimously approved the special resolutions regarding administrative and minimum membership and quorum updates to the Scope Constitution.
To celebrate Scope’s 75th year, a tribute video was presented featuring Scope’s clients and the employees who have supported them. Attendees enjoyed a video introduction from Gloria Albornoz, Co-Chair of Scope’s Client Advisory Panel (CAP), and a facilitated discussion by Casey Tutungi, from Scope’s Client Experience Team with CAP members Phoebe Jewell, Deb Gawthorpe and Daniel Fitzgerald. Panel members shared insights into their personal objectives and perspectives regarding the Panel’s function and ambitions as the main representative body for Scope clients.
The Scope Board thanked the people we support and our members, families, staff, business partners, donors, supporters, volunteers, and friends, all of whom help us further our purpose of creating meaningful opportunities for people with a disability to belong and thrive.
